who i am
Dillon Michael Miller (he/him) is a Brooklyn-based screenwriter, novelist, and theater artist.
Originally from a large Amish and Mennonite family in a small Ohio town, Dillon has rooted his life and writing in an earnest pursuit of authenticity. As a teenager, he’d devour science fiction novels and horror movies after days spent bailing hay in his family’s fields—and in these stories he found the tools to imagine worlds and identities beyond those he had been offered.
This imagination led him to Yale University, where he received his BA in Sociology with an independently crafted concentration in Performance in Society. Through the lens of social science, he’s explored how we write and perform our own stories of identity and the societal structures that shape them. Connecting these studies to training in screenwriting and classical acting, he’s equipped himself to reflect on the ever-evolving human experience through the art forms that long inspired him.
Today, Dillon continues his independent investigation of history, culture, and religion from his home in Bushwick, where he has enmeshed himself in the queer artistic and nightlife communities that stand on the forefront of culture—as they always have.
what I write
My writing spans media and genre, from horror to comedy and stage to screen—but my thematic north stars remain consistent. I tell stories of “queer” individuals in search of community. I tell stories that explore the complex nature of belief and identity. I tell stories that use imagined worlds to more freely interrogate our own.
